Privacy policy

Summary

Merto.ai ("we", "us") collects only what we need to run your website and work with you as a client. We do not sell personal information. This policy covers merto.ai and the website service we provide to owner-operated contractors and tradespeople in Canada.

What we collect

• Business and contact details you give us (name, what you do, services, hours, licensing, email, phone).
• Content and photos you send for your site.
• Messages between you and us about your account or site changes.
• Basic technical logs needed to host, secure, and operate your site (for example request timestamps and errors).

If you ask us to add third-party analytics or tags to your site, those providers may collect visitor data under their own policies. We do not enable them unless you request it.

How we use it

To build, host, update, and support your website, bill your subscription, and communicate with you about the service. We do not sell your information or use it to train models for unrelated products.

Messages from your site's visitors

The website service includes lead capture and an on-site assistant. When someone visits your site and calls, texts, sends a photo, leaves a voicemail, or uses the chat, we process that message on your behalf so the inquiry reaches you and gets a reply. We handle this only to run the assistant and lead capture on your site, keep it stored with the inquiry, and never sell it or use it to advertise. Your own site's privacy page discloses this to your visitors; we generate that disclosure for you.

Text messaging (SMS)

If you opt in to text messages from us (by calling or texting our number, or submitting a form that includes SMS consent language), we collect your phone number, the opt-in record, and the message content needed to reply. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties, except with service providers acting on our behalf solely to deliver the messages.

Service providers

We use trusted infrastructure and software providers (for example hosting, database, domain registration, messaging, and the tools that answer and route inquiries on your site). They process data only to operate the service on our instructions, not for their own marketing.

Retention

We keep your data while you are a client. After cancellation, we export your site content and photos on request and delete remaining copies within 30 days, except records we must keep for billing, tax, or legal reasons.

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law you may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Email hi@merto.ai. We aim to respond within 30 days.
